Our Story
Hello!
The Film Files Club was founded in 2020 by Isabella Bazoni, an Italian-born, London-based filmmaker and curator. Born as a university society at the University of the Arts London, from 2020 to 2023, we grew into an amazing community of filmmakers, creatives, and film lovers from a huge range of backgrounds. Over the years, we organised a number of very successful events, workshops, masterclasses, and field trips to international film festivals, with the aim of bridging the gap between university and the film industry. Thus allowed us to build strong relationships with other London-based film clubs and societies as well as organisations such as BFI Young Audiences, MUBI UK, Girls In Film, The Film Pitch Fund, and more.
After our committee members graduated university in 2023, we decided to continue as an independent society, detaching ourselves from a specific university and going solo into the London’s art world.
Today, we are a film club open to anyone with a strong interest and passion in film. So, wether you’re a filmmaker, a curator, a writer, an artist, or you simply enjoy watching films, this is the place for you! With a strong community of emerging filmmakers at our core, we aim at fostering, nurturing, and empowering creatives with a special focus on young and emerging individuals.
The Film Files Club was born from the need to bridge the gap between university and the film industry, for young and emerging creatives who needed a space to learn, network, and experiment.
Our mission is to follow you every step of the way, from production to distribution and exhibition; while also creating an exciting space for curious filmgoers and enthusiasts who are looking for a different kind of cinema experience.
We are also the publisher of a monthly artist-focused film zine, comprised of articles, reviews, and think-pieces written by emerging writers and cinephiles.
At Film Files, we strongly believe that all voices need to be heard and all stories have to be told.
Therefore, our mission is to empower emerging filmmakers and creatives through practical tools, industry-standard knowledge, a community of fellow creatives, and financial support to allow them to bring their ideas to life, turn their passion into a career, and step a foot through the door to the film industry.
